EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, Feb 27, 2011

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Renew your inner energy and refresh your soul,
by simply taking a few moments each day
to reflect upon the beauty and perfection of God’s creation. “Be still and know that I am God”.

Friday, March 11 is designated as our night of appreciation to all our volunteers who make a huge difference to the life's of our parish and church. The night begins with a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Parish Church at 7.30pm. All are welcome to join in this celebration. After Mass refreshments and a social evening with music and dance in the Parish Hall. All are welcome. All those who have newly volunteered we will see you on the night.

MOONCOIN GAA
As the new hurling year begins and the weather so poor, it is nice to have the indoor facilities for our young teams to use. Training has commenced for most teams and registration for the coming year will be on Friday, March 4 at 7.30pm in the Complex. Once again we encourage any parent who has some spare time to get involved in the training of our teams. In-house coaching courses will be provided. Looking forward to seeing you during the year.

SOCCER CLUB
Our U12 goalkeeper, Zack Power, travelled to Killarney recently with his Waterford U12 team mates to take on Kerry in the Munster Inter League game, which finished 0 - 0. Penalties decided the game and Waterford were the winners, with help from Zack who saved 4 penalties and scored one. Well done Zack - keep up the good work.
On Sun. Feb 20 at 2pm in Ashgrove, our U16 goalkeeper, Eric Conway and his Waterford team mates will take on North Tipperary in the Munster Inter League. Please support. Free admission to all.
Our U13 centre half, Aidan Holden, is in training with Waterford U13 squad in preparation for the Kennedy Cup Tournament in Limerick in June. Best of luck Aidan.

MOONDHARRIG PLAYERS
‘Happy Birthday Dear Alice’ by Bernard Farrell will be performed by the group in Mooncoin Hall from Tuesday, March 1 to Sunday, March 6 at 8pm nightly. The Play tells the story of a family whose Mother - Alice played by Cara O’Mahoney lives alone and needs looking after. The crux is that the views of the family regarding the solution to this problem do not in any way coincide with the wishes of Alice. Outside influences in the form of Jimmy Heffernan (Frank Hogan) plays a large part in bringing the matter to a conclusion – a satisfactory one for Alice but not so acceptable to her bossy daughter Barbara, played by Martina Nathan, or to her selfish and shallow son Barry (Seamus Kearns). Helena Walsh-Kiely (Sandy) and Stephen Kearns (Cormac) play the girl-friend and husband of the pair of siblings.
