Journey through the Season of Lent

Time of possibilities and growth

During this Season of Lent we are taking themes for the five weeks. The focus this week is on family and community. We light a candle in each of the churches for all the varying needs of families in our parish community. The family is the nucleus of our community and is called the domestic church. Christian values are first learned in the family. For example the values of caring, sharing, looking out for the other, prayer are all learned in the home. Through the centuries we have seen how parents cared for their families and the sacrifices they made to make life better for the next generation. The greatest gift that we can give to the next generation is the values that are at the heart of the Gospel, the Good News – God’s love for us and the sharing of that wonderful love with one another.

Lord, bless all families in our parish community with the grace and strength they need to face the varying challenges and needs of our time. May they discover new seeds of possibilities wherever new challenges arise. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Prayer basket is placed in the sanctuary area of each church
for your welcomed prayer intentions.

Trocáire Boxes are available in the Porch of each Church
