KILIMANJARO DIRECT SCHOOL PROJECT
www.kilimanjarodirect.org
Established in 2005, by Secondary teacher, Sheila Ryan, “Kilimanjaro Direct” is an Irish-based, registered charity. To date the charity has distributed food, installed water and built houses for people with disability, who were living in mud huts. At the moment, the charity is building a Primary school at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, which will educate very poor children, whose parents cannot afford to send them to school. In October 2010 twenty three people went out from Offaly & South Kilkenny on a building blitz. A power of work was done – more to do! For more information log on to: www.seikierans.ie. We are hoping to send about 10 plasterers out in the month. If you are interested please contact me (Fr Peter) on 086-8265955. We need to have something definite by the first week of December. Any suggestions, or help for fund raising would be most welcome. Gift token cards will be available for Christmas if you wish to give to a friend rather than a present. After spending some time there you would realise how much and how well off we are. All help and any help much appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you.

DIOCESAN CHILD PROTECTION
Diocesan child protection training is currently being rolled out across the Diocese. Where possible we are training parishes in clusters together, so as to have adequate numbers and to speed up delivery and benefit of experience. The Diocese is anxious to complete this training with parishes as soon as possible, so have made the decision to train people, pending Garda vetting and volunteer registration being completed satisfactorily.
The training for Cluster 1: Rosbercon, Glenmore, Slieverue, Ferrybank, Mooncoin, Templeorum, Kilmacow & Mullinavat, will take place in Mooncoin Parish Hall on Thursday, November 25 from 7pm to 10pm. Tea and snacks will be provided.

SICK & HOUSE BOUND
I visit the hospital in Ardkeen on Thursday afternoons. Due to a change in the law and the right to privacy it is not as simple as just walking in anymore. I have no problem visiting the sick, housebound, or anyone in institutional care once I know. So if you have a family member and you would like me to visit please do not hesitate to contact me. We all have a responsibility in this area and your responsibility is to let the Priest know.
