FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, January 31, 2010

I want to express my deep gratitude for the great solidarity you have shown towards the earthquake victims in my country and for your very generous assistance to me, so that I may complete my studies and return home quickly.
Haiti used to be a place of dreams: white beaches, clear seas and untouched green fertile mountains. Now tragically, to the world, it looks like a huge open cemetery. Before the earthquake we were on the brink of disaster as a result of an unlimited number of problems (social, economic, political, etc...), now however, we must also face the devastating effects of the events of January 12 . We do this, stronger, thanks to the support of so many people throughout the world.
"Prayer is the most sublime expression of solidarity." Together we pray to God with the hope that soon in Haiti work will resume in a country that knows no respite from pain and tragedy. Let us pray that the darkness of suffering can give way to the light of hope; offering a new beginning for all.
Again my deepest thanks to you all. May God bless you and keep all of you in his love and his peace!
Fr. Jean Ralph Riccardy Pompée THEODAT

THANK YOU
The hall committee would like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for making the Christmas Fair an outstanding success. Your generosity made it possible to raise in excess of €11,000. Some of this has already been put to good use to mend water pipes that burst in the hall during the bad weather. The quality of the donations was excellent and saleable. For the first time in 3 years there was no need to hire a skip afterwards. A special thank you to the ticket sellers and to all who helped in any way.

Our collection last weekend raised a staggering €12,128.08. Thank you!! When counting this money someone commented “it would make you proud to be from the parish” – how true!! Your generosity was truly amazing.
As a result of this we were able to send €4,000 from the parish to Rome, which covered all of Jean’s college bills. He now has no worries but the completion of his studies, so that he may return home. We pray that this gift, through the work Jean will do, will continue to effect lives in Haiti for years and decades to come.
More immediately we were able to send – €8,128.08 directly to Haiti to assist with the relief work in this land truly devastated by the recent earthquake. May the Lord for whom all is possible bring great hope and a new beginning there.
Fr. Eamonn, Fr. Dermot & Chris
