SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT, March 04, 2012

A Word in your ear:
Endings and New Beginnings
For more than twenty years The Grapevine parish newsletter has been a constant feature of Parish life in Mooncoin, Carrigeen and Kilnaspic. It was probably one of the first regular parish newsletters in the Diocese of Ossory. Since the beginning Joan and Kathleen Kelly (now Kathleen Fitzgerald) have faithfully produced The Grapevine, maintaining its constant high standard of production. Recently Joan and Kathleen have indicated to me that they wish to bring their involvement with The Grapevine to a conclusion and pass the baton on to someone else. They have done a magnificent service to the parish community and I want to thank them most sincerely.
The Parish Pastoral Council has set about the task of seeking a new team of people to produce The Grapevine. We are looking for people who have a flair for this kind of work and most importantly, can give the time each week to produce the newsletter. The Pastoral Council is also proposing to incorporate an advertising section in The Grapevine. This would simply mean that companies and local businesses or organisations would have the opportunity to buy a weekly advertisement for a period of three months . Any such business should contact the parish office as soon as possible.

LEARNING ABOUT THE MASS WITH KATH AND QUMEN
THE CREED
After the homily the priest invites us to stand and profess our faith. We do this by saying the Creed. There are two Creeds that can be said at Mass: the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed. The Creed tells us simply what we believe as members of the Church. We stand to show that we are proud to be followers and friends of Jesus.
PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
During this time we pray for all our needs, particularly for the Church, the leaders of our country, those who are sick and in need of God’s healing and those who have died. The Prayer of the Faithful is normally spoken by the Minister of the Word on our behalf. At the end of each prayer there is a moment of silence and then the Minister of the Word says: ‘Lord hear us’ or ‘We pray to the Lord’, and we answer: ‘Lord graciously hear us’ or ‘Lord hear our prayer.’
