Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2009

Today I put aside my “when this happens” and my “if only this could be” and my “when things get better” and my “soon as I have this.”

I am going to harvest what I now have, gather all the many gifts that are already mine.

I am going to observe what has been put in my granary of my heart and marvel at the abundance.

I will stand before this heap of blessings and take a long grateful look. I will say farewell to my “when” and be thankful for what is.

The Bond Between Parents & Children Lasts a Lifetime

It remains unchanged by tie or distance.
It is the purest love –
Unconditional and true.
It is understanding of any situation
And forgiving of any mistake

It is strong enough to withstand
Harsh words and hurt feeling,
For it is smart enough to always
See the love beyond the words.

It is brave enough to always
Speak the truth,
Even when lies would be easier.
It is always there –
Anytime, anywhere –
Whenever it is needed.

It is a gift held in the heart
And in the soul,
And it cannot be taken away
Or exchanged for another.
To possess this love is a treasure
That makes life more valuable.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish some place you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.
And if you can read this message, then you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.
