THE BOND BETWEEN MOTHER AND CHILD LASTS A LIFETIME

The bond between mother and child is a special one. It remains unchanged by time or distance. It is the purest love – unconditional and true. It is understanding of any situation and forgiving of any mistake.
The bond between mother and child creates a support that is constant while everything else changes. It is a friendship based on mutual love, respect, and a genuine liking of each other as a person. It is knowing that no matter where you go or who you are, there is someone who truly loves you and is always there to support and console you. When a situation seems impossible, you make it through together by holding on to each other.
The bond between mother and child is strong enough to withstand harsh words and hurt feelings, for it is smart enough to always see the love beyond the words. It is brave enough to always speak the truth, even when lies would be easier. It is always there – anytime, anywhere – whenever it is needed. It is a gift held in the heart and in the soul, and it cannot be taken away or exchanged for another. To possess this love is a treasure that makes life more valuable.

A Prayer For Our Young People
God our Father, You see Your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world. Show them that Your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following You is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY

YESTERDAY-TODAY-TOMORROW
Yesterday I met a stranger... Today this stranger is my friend.
Had I not taken the time to say hello, or return a smile, or shake a hand, or listen, I would not have known this person.
Yesterday would have turned into today and our chance meeting would be gone.
Yesterday I hugged someone very dear to me.
Today they are gone... and tomorrow will not bring them back.
Wouldn't it be nice if we all knew tomorrow would be here?
But this is not to be, so take the time TODAY to give a hug, a smile, an "I love you."
JUST FOR TODAY... smile at a stranger, listen to someone's heart, drop a coin where a child can find it ...learn something new, then teach it to someone ...tell someone you're thinking of them ...hug a loved one, don't hold a grudge.
Look a child in the eye and tell them how great they are.
Don't kill that spider in your house, he's just lost, so show him the way out.
Look beyond the face of a person into their heart, make a promise, and keep it
Call someone, for no other reason than to just say "hi" ...show kindness to an animal, stand up for what you believe in, smell the rain, feel the breeze, listen to the wind, use all your senses to their fullest, cherish all your TODAYS.

WATERFORD HOSPICE MOVEMENT LTD
We are well aware of the expression ‘to move mountains’ when describing exceptional effort. While Sliabh na mBan remains unmoved, she was conquered in grand style on December 26 last by many wonderful supporters of Waterford Hospice. €10,000 was raised in doing so. I would like to congratulate all concerned for their generosity of spirit. The building of a dedicated Hospice Unit remains our top priority and your donation will go towards our building fund. Best wishes and a special thanks to everyone involved.

Journey through the Season of Lent

Time of possibilities and growth

During this Season of Lent we are taking themes for the five weeks. The focus this week is on family and community. We light a candle in each of the churches for all the varying needs of families in our parish community. The family is the nucleus of our community and is called the domestic church. Christian values are first learned in the family. For example the values of caring, sharing, looking out for the other, prayer are all learned in the home. Through the centuries we have seen how parents cared for their families and the sacrifices they made to make life better for the next generation. The greatest gift that we can give to the next generation is the values that are at the heart of the Gospel, the Good News – God’s love for us and the sharing of that wonderful love with one another.

Lord, bless all families in our parish community with the grace and strength they need to face the varying challenges and needs of our time. May they discover new seeds of possibilities wherever new challenges arise. We ask this in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Prayer basket is placed in the sanctuary area of each church
for your welcomed prayer intentions.

First Sunday of Lent, March 01, 2009

We begin as members of a Christian Community our Lenten Journey. Lent means ‘Spring time’, a time of new beginnings, a time of possibilities when the earth produces seeds of new life after the cold damp earth of winter. We are called as Christians to take a fresh look and the earth of our lives and to discover the seeds of possibilities that often lay dormant within us. Through reflection and renewal let us nurture those seeds of possibilities and nourish them in prayer.

May the power of the Holy Spirit that led Jesus,
lead you into a new spring time of inner growth.
May you discover new seeds of possibilities in the earth of your worries and anxieties.
May new dreams emerge and the courage to see them into fruition
May the winter of hopelessness give way to the springtime of hope
And may the earth of your being surprise you
as you Journey with Jesus to the glory of His Resurrection.
