PRESENTATION JUBILEE YEAR
Sunday, April 26 marks the 225th Anniversary of the death of Nano Nagle in 1784. In 1775 she founded the Presentation Congregation at Cove Lane, Cork.
Across the five continents Presentation Sisters, associates and friends will celebrate the Jubilee Year if Nano’s death. This Jubilee Year was launched on Christmas Eve 2008 and will continue until Christmas Eve 2009. The Presentation Sisters came from Kilkenny to Mooncoin in 1830 to begin a school in the village.
We, the Sisters, invite the people of Mooncoin to let us know how they would like to celebrate this event in our parish, by bringing to life the new hope and enjoyment in these days of recession, as Nano did in the years of the Penal Laws in the 18th century.
We will be delighted to hear your ideas by phone, 895114, or by post, by the end of May.
There will be a pilgrimage to Cove Lane, Cork, during the summer.
Books on the life of Nano Nagle are available on loan from the Convent.

Easter Message
A time filled with New Possibilities
In the present climate there is much gloom, between the budget, the odd bad weather day and the economy national and global etc. In the midst of suffering, darkness and depression there is light at the end of the tunnel. I heard a little joke recently – Due to cut backs the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off. The light at the end of the tunnel of Holy Week is Christ risen to new life. He is the Light of the world. Let our thoughts turn towards that first Holy Week… the apostles and friends of Jesus were devastated by the fact that their Lord and Saviour was crucified with two criminals. What a downturn it must have been for them. They had given their everything to Jesus and now what was there but suffering, death and that it would possibly be the same for them. Those words in the Gospel to Mary: ‘It is I’, ‘Why look among the dead for someone who is living’, or words to Thomas… ‘doubt no longer but believe’. These are but a few of the words of encouragement. I join with the Good News in giving words of encouragement – Christ is for us the Light of the World. May He who strengthened the first disciples strengthen you and your families this Easter time. May every grace and blessing be yours this Springtime and may the love of God reign in your hearts and homes as we journey together in the ways of the Lord. I take this opportunity to thank one and all who helped in the Easter ceremonies and I wish you a Happy Easter and may all your loved ones experience the love of the risen Jesus. Fr. Eamonn O’Gorman P.P.
